Our collaboration with DYCE Apparel led to 3 new shop locations, better inventory management
The Challenge
DYCE Apparel initially experienced slow but steady growth in sales through foot traffic and word of mouth, amassing a substantial Facebook following. However, their expansion to West Edmonton Mall exposed two critical issues impeding revenue growth. While Facebook effectively showcased their extensive apparel collections, the company struggled with outdated manual processes, including labor-intensive order logging, a lack of online payment gateways, and a cumbersome inventory tracking system. Additionally, there was no organizational framework in place to manage the growing inventory across their two stores. DYCE sought the expertise of Session Six to formulate a technology and digital strategy to address these challenges.
“The best investment we’ve made is in the team at Session Six, and we’d make it a 100X over again.”
The Solution
The two major bottlenecks DYCE faced – a lack of consolidated inventory management and the absence of a meaningful online marketplace - created focus for the strategy. Shopify is known for its user-friendly POS system and comprehensive online store builder and became the spearhead for revenue and growth.
Phase one of our strategy began with the creation of an online storefront for DYCE. This move wasn’t just about selling products online. It was a strategic effort to harness DYCE's Facebook presence, converting passive browsers into active buyers.
In the second phase, we integrated Shopify POS into DYCE’s brick-and-mortar stores. The success of this solution lay in its simplicity: a seamless bridge between the online and offline worlds. Every in-store sale was instantly mirrored online, and every online transaction was reflected on the store’s POS system. This synergy between physical and digital removed the risks of over-selling and greatly enhanced inventory management.

The Shopify integration and the strategy surrounding it wasn't just about leveraging technology for the sake of technology; it was about utilizing it to its potential to drive tangible business outcomes. From their initial location in Londonderry Mall and a new venture in West Edmonton Mall, DYCE’s technology strategy helped them expand their footprint, inaugurating two more premium locations: Kingsway Mall and Premium Outlet Collection at Edmonton International Airport, and upgrade to a prime location in West Edmonton Mall. Additionally, the integration between DYCE's brick-and-mortar stores and their online counterpart significantly improved operational efficiency and DYCE saw the results of this work downstream in it’s revenue and profit generation.
